Corigliano’s World Update: 3/8-3/9
March 12, 2008 10:07 am
Here are some photos from staff member John Corigliano’s latest trip to WDW and Disney’s Hollywood Studios:
The Sorcerer’s Hat is looking pretty dirty these days. Seems to be inherited from the occasional block spot Spaceship Earth receives from the weather.
Work on the animation archway is still not complete, we just have a big blank space to stare at for the time being. It may be a while until we see a replacement here.
The 3-D image of Ariel on the Voyage of the Little Mermaid sign has been taken down for repair.
Toy Story Mania and Pixar Place are closing in on completion as you can see in the next few pictures.
The left side of the street is almost finished and again has that same great brickwork that can be seen on the Toy Story Mania show building. This side will most likely contain character meet and greet spots and maybe some small merchandise locations.
Let’s take a peek through the construction wall, shall we?
Looks like new pavement has finally been laid down. We can’t be more than 3-4 weeks away from the opening of this area.
Notice the glass security booth at the entrance to Pixar Place, giving you the feeling that you are entering a different studio lot. The Pixar letters and signage still have not been erected.
The Magic of Disney Animation facade and exterior continues to get a general face-lift.
The enclosure of the old Backlot theater continues to progress, as walls have now sealed the theater.
After years of doing what he was programmed to do, Wall-E has a sign at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
A look inside the windows of the former ABC theater reveals…. boxes!!!
If you haven’t seen enough of it yet, let’s take another look at Block Party Bash, the new parade/show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Bright costumes, giant floats, and a lot of energy make up this Disney’s California Adventure export.
Mr. Potato Head leads the way for the Toy Story float.
The detail and size of the parade floats are unbelievable.
The Monsters Inc. float is absolutely huge, almost towering over the buildings on Hollywood Blvd.
The parade makes two lengthy stops along it’s route, performing a dancing street show of sorts with all the Pixar characters.
In addition to the main floats featuring Toy Story, Monsters Inc., and A Bug’s Life, there are also smaller floats of toy blocks and traffic cones from the Toy Story films. The Incredibles also make a surprise appearance during the parade.
That does it for this WDWÂ photo update, A big thanks to staff member John Corigliano (also of Mousetimes.com) for providing us with these pictures.
